Dr. David Ramirez is an Associate Professor in the department of Breast Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The MD Anderson Breast Medical Oncology Service represents decades of breast cancer expertise by medical oncology clinicians and a specialized team of breast cancer nurses, pharmacists, and APPs.
Dr. Ramirez treats all types of breast cancer in the outpatient and inpatient setting at MD Anderson. He has been a member of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Steering Committe for 10 years representing BMO department for the last 7 years. Dr. Ramirez has been awarded multiple educational awards including 5 time Educator of the Year and 3 time Multidisciplinary Educator of the Year. He has also been awarded the Dr. Vicente Valero Educator Award 3 times. Under his leadership the Breast Medical Oncology department has been named the Teaching Department of the Year for 3 years in a row.
Dr. Ramirez is the Associate Medical Director of the Breast Medical Oncology Program and the Patient Safety/Quality Officer for his department. He is a core member of the MD Anderson/LBJ Hospital Multidisciplinary virtual tumor Board.
Dr. David Ramirez earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed his Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of California at Davis.
